Read 180
Reading intervention program assisting identified freshman students in order to increase student achievement and student literacy.

Ascend Math
Math intervention program assisting identified freshman students in order to increase student achievement and student mathematics.

Instructional Tutors 
Tutors are individuals who assist with instructional tasks in the Read 180, Math Lab, Math, and English classrooms. Focusing assistance with all students to decrease failure rates and promote positive relationships in classroom.

Title I Coordinator
Title I coordinator is in large part the core of the Title I program at Moon Valley.

  • Oversees Instructional Tutors and their Schedule
  • Coordinates the Planning Team
  • Keeps in Contact with District Office
  • Manages Title I budget

Literacy Coach
The Literacy Coach is an educator on campus whose focus is the improvement of literacy at Moon Valley.

  • Improve Instruction by Engaging Teachers in Intensive Professional Development
  • Manage and Evaluate the School’s Literacy Program
  • Provide Leadership for Literacy across the School Community

Math Intervention Specialist
The Math Intervention Specialist is an educator on campus whose focus is the mathematics of students at Moon Valley.

Late Bus
The Late Bus removes transportation as a barrier for students allowing them to stay later for 8th hour, working with a teacher, working in B.L.A.S.T. Center, sports, or any other school related activity.

B.L.A.S.T. Center Parent Event Nights
The B.L.A.S.T. Center Parent Event Nights are just one way for parents to get involved with their students, meet the teachers, and get to know Moon Valley High School’s campus.

Math Extended Learning Opportunity (Melo)
Math Extended Learning Opportunity is a chance for students who have yet to be successful in Algebra 1 Semester 2 or Geometry Semester 2 to catch up on the lost credits without falling behind or paying out of pocket for the classes.

Project SHARP
Project SHARP occurs during the summer between the 8th and 9th grades. This class encourages all students to attend and practice math skills in order to become more successful for the freshman year of school.

After School Tutoring in the B.L.A.S.T. Center
The B.L.A.S.T. Center at Moon Valley High School is a free tutoring center open to all students. Students can come in and work on anything school related, and after working for fifteen minutes may receive a snack. It is staffed with five instructional tutors who are available to assist students primarily in math or English, and other areas of expertise.

8th Hour Assistance
The 8th Hour Assistance is a class period at the end of the day in which students may be enrolled if they are falling behind in class work or if they missed class and need to be caught up.

Technology in the B.L.A.S.T. Center
The Technology in the B.L.A.S.T. Center is used in order to supplement learning for students. It is equipped with 17 student computers as well as a SMART Board. The SMART Board may be used during the class period if a tutor needs to bring in a group of students, or with a small group of students before or after school. The student computers are used for anything school related and students may also print off any papers necessary.

Professional Development
Professional Development is an integral part of Moon Valley High School’s success. All faculty members actively participate in a professional learning community. Throughout the school year all educators and paraprofessionals are provided with opportunities to attend on-campus and district professional development in-services which meet the needs of all students.

LINK Crew
Assists the school by improving academic achievement of incoming freshman and, as a result, improve graduation rate.

Instructional Supplies
The Moon Valley B.L.A.S.T. Program provides Title 1 students with school supplies in which the student cannot afford. These supplies could be:

  • Notebooks
  • Pencils
  • Pens
  • Notebook paper
  • Dividers
  • Highlighters

Parent Out-Reach
All Moon Valley High School Staff reaches out to parents in a variety of ways. The reasons for communication can vary but can be related to grades, attendance, behavior, parent events, sports, important testing information, or for surveys. Some of the ways we put reach to parents as the Title I program are:
