Moon Valley has a strong commitment and focus on literacy— reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical thinking.   Every day classes are infused with strategies to increase literacy whether it’s an     English class, math class or social studies class.  On March 27th, Moon Valley celebrated the greatness literacy creates in our lives by holding Moon Valley Reads.   Teachers and staff selected novels to read and then students signed up to read the book as well as participate in a book talk.  Selections ranged from crime thrillers to autobiographies of triumph over tragedy and injustice to the indignities of the teenage experience.   Over 260 students signed up to read one of 28 titles and were treated to, not only a book talk, but a candy buffet, popcorn and various raffle prizes.  And so, as William Shakespeare wrote, "Come, and take choice of all my library, And so beguile thy sorrow..."
