MV DECA Receives West-MEC Outstanding CTSO Chapter Award

West-MEC presented MV DECA with the Outstanding CTSO Chapter Award on November 9, 2008. The West-MEC Outstanding CTSO Chapter Award is presented to a select chapter that meets certain criteria that includes the development of an annual program of activities that includes opportunities for all members, and that conducts a member awards recognition event outside of school time, involving parents and program supporters. Chapters must also conduct a minimum of two activities in the following areas: Leadership; Career pathway activities; Scholarship motivational activities; Chapter Development; Program recruitment; Chapter financial; Public relations; Stakeholder group relations; Community Development; Economic Development within CTSO Pathway; Environmental; Citizenship. Our chapter received a recognition plaque from West-MEC in addition to the 2009-2010 affiliate dues paid by West-MEC.
 
Sponsored by Travis Kenyon, the Moon Valley DECA is the third largest chapter in Arizona. Currently, they have 216 members who have participated in various community service projects, attended officer leadership camps, the Western Regional Leadership Conference and certified a new class of SCUBA divers among other activities. They will be attending their first competitive conference, Western Area Conference, on January 8th. Go, Rockets!!
