Not Waiting a Single Moment
Not Waiting a Moment

October 2014

Anne Frank once said, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before beginning to improve the world.”  Volunteerism is not only encouraged on our campus, but orchestrated.  Faculty and staff members join together to find ways in which to serve our community.  Well the numbers are in!  Volunteer hours for the last school year, 2013-2014, have been tallied.  The Rockets gave 17,510 hours back to our community.  That’s about 730 days or two years’ worth of hours.

The betterment of our community is achieved, while also instilling in our students who volunteer, a sense of awareness and concern about others.  Another benefit to volunteerism is the advantage it creates for higher education.  When competing for enrollment at highly sought after institutions or perhaps for scholarships and grants, volunteerism adds another rung in their ladder of success.  After last year’s achievement, we anticipate wonderful things from our teens and great things in our community for the ongoing school year.
