A Day in the Life of a K9
A Day in the Life of a K9

September 2014

Last week our Careers in Law Enforcement students received an education about the life of a K9 officer, when Officer Tim Norton and his canine partner spent the morning at Moon Valley.  Officer Norton demonstrated to our students the sensitivity of KAI’s nose whether it’s tracking people or evidence.  In fact, students discovered that these dogs sometimes deviate from crime fighting to help find a citizen with Alzheimer’s who has wandered away.  KAI showcased his exceptional training by performing instant commands to either bite or stop biting instructor Sargent Wamsley who put on the giant glove and played the bad guy.  The experience was very invigorating for students and has stirred a desire in several to pursue a career as a K9 Officer.  Thanks to the Phoenix Police Department, Officer Tim Norton and KAI for a superior demonstration of one of its finest departments.
