Believe it or not--this summer while you are relaxing around the pool, you can earn EXTRA CREDIT for next year's English class.

This is all you have to do:

Select one of the eight books listed and read the book.

Then, complete the "Optional Summer Reading Response," which you can download here.

Finally, turn in the "Optional Summer Reading Response" to your new English teacher on the first or second day of class in August, 2009.

Your teachers are looking forward to your responses. We will be reading the books too, so we will be prepared to check for accuracy and plagiarism.

EXTRA CREDIT IS BEING OFFERED BY ALL ENGLISH TEACHERS AT MOON VALLEY

This assignment does not fulfill the requirement for the novels for honors classes. Teachers of honors classes expect their students to first read those assigned books and then this optional book.

This optional assignment is available for all incoming freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior students in their English classes.

Again, select and read one of the eight books, complete the "Optional Summer Reading Response," and turn in the Reading Response to your new English teacher on the first or second day of class in August.
