January 2015
Just recently, on
January 14th, the Moon Valley DECA Chapter competed at a regional
event featuring more than fifteen schools and over 1300 students. DECA is a club for students who have passion
and ambition for a career in business and marketing. The gathering took place at the Phoenix Convention
Center where two member teams from the conglomeration of schools locked horns
in a battle of marketing role play scenarios.
Members of local businesses volunteered to be judges who found favor
towards our Rocket competitors. Led by
teacher Curtis Folkman, our students earned seven spots in this year’s state
competition. Congratulations are owed to
the following future business leaders:
v
Hospitality and Services Management: Tanya Munoz
and Stephanie Banxarath
v
Travel and Tourism Management: Mario Espinoza
and Andrei Marinescu
v
Buying and Merchandising: Nick Ramirez and
Antonio Herrera and….
Last but not least, finishing
FIRST in his section, Christian Anderson.
He won in the area of Sports and Entertainment Management in that
individual competition. We wish these
skillful winners luck at the next round in the state competition which will
take place in March.
