H1N1 Virus Letter from Dr. Bob England (April 30, 2009)

The H1N1 Virus behaves and is transmitted like other flu strains. To prevent the H1N1 Virus and all strains of the flu, please continue to be vigilant with good health practices:

  • When possible, avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • If you become sick, stay home.
  • When you cough or sneeze, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or your upper sleeve-- not your hands. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers can be used if soap and water are not available.
