August 2014

Have you heard about SOSAZ?  This organization was founded eighteen years ago as a grass roots organization with the purpose of delivering a high quality education to the 85% of Arizona students attending public schools.  A key mission is bridging the gap between the average citizen’s expectations of its local legislatures and the laws and funding which actually are enacted into law.  It is SOSAZ’S belief that an engaged community will be able to impact the school system in a positive and effective way.

The 2014-2015 school year will be inaugurated with an event called Walk4Education.  Students across Arizona will participate in a showcase where they will sing the praises of their school or perhaps a special teacher.  Some will put together a presentation about personal or group achievements attained while attending their school.

The event will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 2-18 years of age.  Attendees may preview the student showcase and also join in the fun and games at Champion’s Zone.  Then cheer on the Arizona Diamondbacks as they take on the San Diego Padres beginning at 5:15 p.m.  The Glendale Union High School District hopes to see you there as we work together to better the educational opportunities our students experience.
